Each year, the American Ambulance Association (AAA), the nation’s leading EMS organization, honors outstanding EMS professionals from across the nation at the annual Stars of Life Celebration. This year, Zebulon Paramedic Fairon Gibson was chosen to represent Community Ambulance at the Stars of Life, held in Washington DC.
Far more than a typical awards ceremony, the AAA’s Stars of Life Celebration includes a full itinerary of education and advocacy opportunities. While in Washington DC, Paramedic Gibson met more than eighty “stars” from around the nation, in addition to some of the most influential members of the EMS industry. Gibson also spent an entire day on Capitol Hill, meeting with representatives from the state of Georgia to discuss critical legislative issues impacting the EMS industry.
"I was thrilled to be nominated for the 2015 Star of Life Award and even more excited to be named a recipient. It is so gratifying to know my hard work and efforts have been noticed and appreciated. Thank you Community Ambulance for the nomination. It is easy to love what you do when you have a company that stands behind their employees 100%. Accepting the award in Washington DC was very gratifying and I gained a better understanding of the process that our State Representatives go through for our EMS system. In addition to meeting representatives from Georgia, I had the opportunity to visit historic landmarks and learn more about some of our country's rich history. This was a once in a lifetime experience that I will always remember. Being a recipient of this award makes me want to continue being the positive provider that I am and to encourage all Community Ambulance employees to strive to be the best of the best. I have no doubt that the future recipients of the Star of Life award will be as honored as I am. Thank you again, Community Ambulance and American Ambulance Association for the honor,” -Fairon Gibson.
